When it comes to deep hole oil, small hole gun drilling, large hole high-precision, and high roughness requirements, oil-based cutting oil is often used. For large hole rough machining, water-based cutting oil can be used as a compromise.
3.The influence of cutting oil on machining
The selection of cutting oil during deep hole machining has a significant impact on the life of the machining tool and the accuracy of the machined parts. Through years of practical comparison, it has been found that the drill bit life and back face wear of active cutting oil are significantly better than those of emulsified cutting oil when machining medium carbon steel.
The drilling expansion decreases with the increase of active sulfur content in the cutting oil, especially for low carbon steel. The surface roughness of the machined surface decreases with the increase of active sulfur content. When the active sulfur content is less than 4%, the decrease is significant, and after it exceeds 4%, the decrease slows down.
